THE WILLIAM OF VULCI
Stories of Popes, Etruscan vases and cacciarelle
Since 1827, the Guglielmi family has been in charge of a Reserve of over 500 hectares of Mediterranean scrub. Oaks, eucalyptus and cypress trees grow close to the sea on a land crossed by ditches, sand dunes and marshes.
This structural diversity of the topsoil carries out biological functions that are essential to maintaining the environment of the Reserve unaltered.
In 1828, Marquis Giulio Guglielmi asked the Vatican for a license to carry out excavations in the old village of Sant'Agostino, which he subsequently obtained. This episode gave rise to the Etruscan Guglielmi collection, today visible in the Guglielmi room in the Vatican Museums.
From 1950 to 2011 the Reserve was preserved with dedication and vision by the Marquis Giacinto Guglielmi (1923-2011), passionate about the rural world, a successful agricultural entrepreneur and a great hunter.
Today, Giacinto Guglielmi, 5th generation, is responsible for supporting, protecting and innovating the Riserva Sant'Agostino farm.
