GLI OCCHI DEL MARE

By the sea we encounter stories of individuals in search of themselves, suspended on the edge of the ocean, with their destiny marked by the sea. The old stables of Sant'Agostino overlook the sea, where many stories have converged for hundreds of years.

The GLI OCCHI DEL MARE project was born from a significant initiative to revitalise the space, hosting artists, artisans, writers and musicians, offering them a platform to tell current and real stories related to the Lazio coast, helping raising awareness in the community on the importance of the dynamics of the Mediterranean Sea and actively participate in this important cultural dialogue.

Rari Nantes
by Paolo W. Tamburella

Paolo William Tamburella, visionary artist and creator of beauty, presents for the first time the new series 'Rari Nantes' in the Riserva Sant'Agostino, a magical place for its flora and proximity to the sea.

The works on display are representations made of resin inspired by pictorial images of marine ex-votos depicting scenes of storms and shipwrecks. Graces received painted mostly by sailors who survived the fury of the sea.

Using the sea as an existential metaphor, Tamburella creates universal images that tell stories of miracles.

The exhibition curated by Mirta d'Argenzio, sponsored by the Municipality of Montalto di Castro and the Italian Blue Route, was the first event of the project GLI OCCHI DEL MARE, aimed at enhancing the sea through art and culture.
